Osteoporosis

In osteoporosis, normal bone (left) becomes less dense (right), which makes fractures likely. When the bones of the spine (vertebrae) become less dense, they may gradually collapse. This type of fracture is called a compression fracture. If several vertebrae collapse, the spine may become curved (right).
