Introduction ˌin-trə-ˈdək-shən

By Margaret C. McBride, MD

Neurologic disorders affect the brain, spinal cord, nerves, or a combination. These disorders include seizures, febrile seizures, cerebral palsy, Tourette syndrome, other tic disorders, and disorders that also affect other parts of the body (such as the skin or eyes), such as neurofibromatosis, Sturge-Weber syndrome, tuberous sclerosis, and von Hippel-Lindau disease.

The approach to neurologic disorders in children often differs from that in adults because the brain and nervous system are still developing.
