Ultrasound scanning in pregnancy is used to evaluate the fetus. The fetal heart can be seen vibrating rapidly in the middle of the scan. The head can be seen on the right. Other body parts, such as the extremities and the rib cage, can be seen as the fetus moves within the womb.
