Interaction between drugs and the liver can be categorized as follows:

  • Effects of liver disease on drug metabolism
  • Liver injury caused by drugs
  • Effects of hepatic drug metabolism (eg, induction of hepatic enzymes, see Pharmacokinetics: Drug Metabolism)

The number of possible interactions is vast.
