The eye is affected in about half of cases of V1 varicella-zoster virus reactivation. Typical findings include painful forehead rash, a lesion at the tip of the nose, and marked eyelid edema. Eye findings vary and may include conjunctivitis, episcleritis, keratitis, uveitis, retinitis, or a combination.
