    Age-Related Macular Degeneration (Drusen)

Drusen are subretinal deposits. They are yellow in this image. Drusen are one of the hallmarks of age-related macular degeneration. This image also shows changes to the retinal pigment epithelium seen as very fine, dark pinpoint areas (like fine sand particles).
