Hidradenitis Suppurativa

Return to Topic

  • Hidradenitis Suppurativa
  • Hidradenitis suppurativa is a chronic, scarring, acnelike inflammatory process that occurs in the axillae or groin or around the nipples or anus. The acute lesion resembles an abscess with swollen, tender masses. Chronic cases are characterized by deep abscesses and sinus tracts. In chronic axillary cases, inflamed nodules coalesce to form palpable, cordlike, fibrotic bands.
