Assisted-living programs enable residents who have problems doing activities of daily living to maintain their independence in personalized settings by providing or arranging for the provision of daily meals, personal and other supportive services, health care, and 24-h oversight as needed.

Assisted-living programs typically provide the following:

• Meals
• Personal care
• Housekeeping services
• Transportation
• 24-h oversight if needed

These programs are paid for by private funds, long-term care insurance, community-based charity organizations, or church groups.
