Herpes Zoster Ophthalmicus



The eye is affected in about ½ of cases of facial varicella-zoster reactivation. Typical findings include forehead rash, a lesion at the tip of the nose, and marked eyelid edema. Eye findings vary and may include conjunctivitis, episcleritis, keratitis, uveitis, retinitis, or a combination.
