Wild animals, birds, dogs, cats, rodents, and insects can act as vectors for transmission of disease-causing pathogens. Control programs should be instituted as needed to control biologic vectors. Individuals with expertise in pest control should be consulted when instituting pest control programs. Facilities should be inspected and modified as needed to restrict entry of wild animals, birds, and pests; pets should not be allowed to enter facilities where livestock are housed.
