Pathogens may enter farms through contaminated feed and water. When purchase of feed ingredients is necessary, every attempt should be made to procure feedstuffs that are free of contamination. Vehicles used for transport of animals should not be used for transporting feed or feed ingredients because of the possibility of contamination from manure. Periodic analysis of the farm water supply is recommended to determine water quality and bacterial content.
