Endometriosis

This animation shows endometrial tissue extending out of the fallopian tube, past the ovary, and growing in several places within the abdominal cavity. The misplaced endometrial tissue responds to hormones just like normal endometrial tissue does during the menstrual cycle and can bleed and cause pain, particularly before and during menstrual periods.
