Allergic Contact Dermatitis

This photo shows erythema and scaling in the web spaces between fingers. On the hands, allergic contact dermatitis often starts in the web spaces despite the palmar side typically having more direct contact to allergens. This is because the thick stratum corneum on the palmar side often prevents allergen penetration, whereas the stratum corneum in the web spaces is much thinner.
